Intrafer-200 B12
Iron dextran is used for prophylactic and treatment of iron deficiency caused anaemia in piglets and calves. Parenteral administration of iron has the advantage that the necessary amount of iron can be administered in one single dosage. Cyanocobalamin is used for prophylactic and treatment of cyanocobalamin deficiency caused anaemia.
For use in vitamin B-12 deficiency associated with cobalt deficiency in cattle and sheep and for vitamin B-12 deficiency associated with inadequate vitamin B-12 intake or intestinal malabsorption in swine and horses.
Indications of Intrafer-200 B12
Prophylaxis and treatment of anaemia in calves and piglets.
Contraindications
Administration to animals with vitamin E deficiency. Administration to animals with diarrhoea. Administration in combination with tetracyclines, because of the interaction of iron with tetracyclines.
Side effects
Muscle tissue is coloured temporarily by this preparation. Leaking of injection fluid can cause a persistent discoloration of the skin. Intrafer-200 B12; Iron dextran is used for prophylactic and treatment of iron deficiency caused anaemia in piglets and calves.
Dosage
For intramuscular or subcutaneous administration:
Calves:
2 – 4 ml subcutaneous, in the first week after birth.
Piglets:
1 ml intramuscular, 3 days after birth.
